Prostaglandins are a class of physiologically active unsaturated fatty acids that are widely distributed in various tissues and body fluids of the body. They were first extracted from human semen. Now they can be prepared by biosynthesis or total synthesis and used as drugs in clinical practice. . The basic structure of prostaglandin (PG) is prostanoic acid. Natural prostaglandins contain 20-carbon carboxylic acids, hydroxy fatty acids, and their chemical structures and names are derived from prostanoic acid molecules.
