Abnormal prothrombin. In the absence of vitamin K, hepatocytes cannot synthesize normal vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors (II, VII, IX, X), and can only synthesize abnormal prothrombin without coagulation function. In hepatocellular carcinoma, due to abnormal synthesis of prothrombin precursor by cancer cells, the carboxylation of prothrombin precursor is insufficient, resulting in a large amount of APT. APT assay is a marker reflecting hepatocellular carcinoma.
